IH-10 KATY FREEWAY RECONSTRUCTION CONTRACTOR WILLIAMS BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION RECEIVES LETTER AUTHORIZING THE COMMENCEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION
Staging of Construction Equipment on the Corridor Currently Underway
(Houston, Texas) --- The Texas Transportation Commission recently signed and issued Williams Brothers Construction Company of Houston a letter of authorization for the commencement of construction on the initial IH-10 Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program contract. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) let the project on May 6, 2003 and William Brothers Construction of Houston won the contract with a $207 million low bid. The project involves the reconstruction of the existing main lanes and
frontages of IH-10 from West of State Highway 6 to East of Grand Parkway 99. The new freeway will include (8) main lanes, (2) managed lanes in the center, and (6) frontage road lanes for a total of (16)lanes from State Highway 6 to the eastern most project limits. Williams Brothers Construction Company has started staging equipment in the field and as early as this week, citizens should expect to begin seeing the commencement of pre-construction activities. A ceremonial ground breaking and media event is planned for June 28 at 9 a.m. at 16430 Park Ten Place to mark the commencement of construction activities in the corridor.
