IH 10- KATY FREEWAY GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY BRINGS DISTINGUISHED GUESTS TO WORK SITE
(Houston, Texas) --- On Saturday, June 28, 2003, U.S. Congressman John Culberson, Federal Highway Administrator Mary Peters and Texas Transportation Commissioner Johnny W. Johnson join TxDOT Houston District to signal the beginning of the reconstruction program for the IH-10 Katy Freeway with a groundbreaking ceremony. The groundbreaking festivities will be Saturday, June 28, 2003, starting at 9:00 a.m. on the south lawn of the CGG Building at 16430 Park Ten Place. Joining Congressman Culberson will be Texas Department of Transportation Executive Director Michael W. Behrens and Houston District Engineer Gary Trietsch, Harris County Judge Robert Eckels, and METRO Board Chairman Arthur Schechter.
The Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program from the Fort Bend County Line to Washington Avenue will be built in a total of nine construction contract packages. The first contract referred to by the TxDOTHouston District as Contract B, from east of Peek Road (SH 99) to just west of State Highway 6 is currently under construction. The second and third contracts which include the IH-10/IH-610 interchange (Contract F) and the section from the Fort Bend County Line to SH 99 (Contract A) are scheduled for bid opening July 1 and 2, respectively.
