Emergency Freeway Repairs on I-10/Katy Freeway at Fry Road
"Expect Delays for the Next 30 Days"
Houston, Texas) – Beginning Thursday morning the Texas Department of Transportation contractor, NBG Constructors, Inc. (NBG), will start working on an emergency roadway repair at the I-10/Katy Freeway intersection at Fry Road. Over the course of the next 30 days, NBG will be working in the area to replace and reconstruct a damaged beam, a portion of the bridge deck and the guardrail that was struck by an eastbound traveler in October 2003. Due to the emergency construction and related road closures, drivers in the area should expect longer than usual traffic delays.
Effective Thursday, December 4 at 9 a.m. until Tuesday, December 23 at 4 p.m. Fry Road southbound at I-10 will be reduced to one lane. During the same time, one inside lane of the westbound frontage road at Fry will be closed. Drivers should also expect delays this weekend when alternate lanes of the eastbound mainlanes of I-10 at Fry Road will be closed starting Saturday, December 6 at 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. A total closure of the eastbound lanes will begin Saturday night from 10 p.m. until 10 a.m. Sunday, December 7, 2003.
The work being performed by NBG is independent from the work being performed as a part of the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program therefore the contractor will be allowed varying lane closures schedules to help expedite the emergency construction as required.
