I-10/I-610 Interchange Contractor Making Progress
"Closure of Post Oak Exit Ramp Marks the Start of Next Incentive Based Milestone"
(Houston, Texas) –The Texas Department of Transportation is pleased to announce that the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program contracts on the east and west ends of the job are on schedule and making significant progress. Particularly in the I-10/I-610 Interchange area Williams Brothers Construction is "on the move" as they transition smoothly through the initial phases of the interchange reconstruction. A tangible example will be the completion of the new southbound frontage road between Woodway and Post Oak which is scheduled to open to traffic Midnight Saturday, April 24, 2004. To complete the work necessary to open the new frontage road the I-610 southbound frontage road between Woodway and Post Oak will be closed to traffic Saturday, April 24 starting at 6 AM.
In addition to opening of the new southbound frontage road between Woodway and Post Oak, WB is transitioning to the beginning of their next incentive based milestone. Effective Saturday, April 24 at 6 PM the I-610 southbound Post Oak exit ramp will be closed. The closure of the Post Oak exit ramp marks the start of the milestone to construct and open the temporary Post Oak exit ramp within 60 days. There is a $20,000 a day incentive attached to the early opening of the temporary exit ramp, with a maximum incentive of $400,000. In the event it takes the contractor more than the 60 days allowed to open the new ramp, WB will be assessed a penalty of $20,000 per day with no penalty limit. Until the new temporary exit ramp is opened, traffic will be detoured to exit at San Felipe.
