Saturday, May 22nd, 2004
****FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE****
I-10 EAST AND WESTBOUND OPEN EARLY
"Contractor Honors Promise to Get I-10 Mainlanes Open ASAP"
(Houston, Texas)- The most challenging part of this weekend's I-10 mainlanes closures is behind us. Williams Brothers Construction (WB) agreed to do their best to get the mainlanes of I-10 open to traffic as quickly as possible and that is exactly what they have done. Taking advantage of the good weather and working at an accelerated pace to restore traffic operations along the freeway, WB was able to successfully complete the first phase of the North Post Oak Bridge demolition approximately 15 hours ahead of schedule allowing the I-10 eastbound mainlanes to be re-opened at 6 AM, Saturday, May 22. In doing so, the contractor was able to advance to the second phase of the construction equally as early. By 4 pm, Saturday May 22, WB was able to open the westbound mainlanes of I-10. At this time, the I-10 east and westbound direct connector ramps to I-610/West Loop north and southbound are still closed. WB expects to open all of the I-10 direct connector ramps by midnight Saturday, May 22. More up to date information will be distributed as it becomes available.
