PERMANENT CLOSURE OF SILBER ENTRANCE RAMP

Friday, Jul 2nd, 2004

"PERMANENT CLOSURE OF SILBER ENTRANCE RAMP"

(Houston, Texas)-- Effective Saturday, July 3, 2004 the temporary Silber entrance ramp to I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound will be permanently closed. The ramp was installed to allow for the reconstruction of the new I-10 eastbound frontage road and is being closed because construction activities have forced the contractor to minimize the entrance ramp transition. According to Clifford Halverson, the Area Engineer for the I-10/I-610 Interchange reconstruction, "We have received several complaints concerning this ramp and we have looked at all the options to make improvements. The best solution at this time is to close the ramp."

The ramp eastbound from Silber before IH 610 will NOT reopen. In the final configuration, access to I-10 eastbound from Silber will be east of the I-10/I-610 Interchange using new eastbound frontage roads beneath the mainlanes I-610. To access I-610 northbound and southbound from the eastbound (inbound) I-10 mainlanes, motorists will need to enter the freeway prior to Antoine.
