FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE...
NEW I-10 @ WESTGREEN INTERSECTION IS NOW OPEN!
(Houston, Texas) – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is excited to announce the opening of the new I-10 at Westgreen intersection. The opening of the Westgreen intersection represents the completion of the first new at-grade urban intersection with U-turns to be constructed as a part of the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program. The intersection’s aesthetic design is a result of TxDOT’s Green Ribbon Project which outlines hardscape and landscape concepts to enhance the look of urban freeways in the Houston District. Some of the aesthetics features of the intersection include uniquely designed columns and a horizontal pattern on the retaining walls with an embossed Texas Star. The Westgreen intersection is one of three new intersections, including S. Greenhouse and Park Ten, to be constructed as a part of Contract B, between SH 99 and SH 6. The new at-grade intersections will significantly increase mobility and improve turning movements for residents, businesses and commuters in the West Houston area. The new intersections will also be used as alternate routes while Fry Road, Barker Cypress and Mason are under reconstruction.
