FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"The I-610 Southbound and Northbound Direct Connectors to I-10 Westbound Closed"
(Houston, Texas) – The I-610/West Loop southbound and northbound direct connectors to I-10/Katy Freeway westbound are closed through PM peak travel times*. In response to the recent truck incidents on the new I-610 southbound** to I-10 westbound direct connector ramp, the contractor will be making adjustments to improve upon the ramp transition including installing some additional signage and concrete traffic barriers to help drivers navigate the ramp and to reinforce the 40 miles per hour speed limit. During the ramp closures, I-610 southbound traffic destined to I-10 westbound should detour to Old Katy Road to enter I-10 west of Silber Road and I-610 northbound traffic to detour to I-10 eastbound and take Washington Avenue to I-10 westbound.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays in the vicinity of the I-10/I-610 Interchange. As soon as the contractor has completed their work the lanes will be reopened to traffic.
For more information on the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program including up-to-date information regarding other lane closures along the I-10 corridor, please visit the Katy Freeway website at www.katyfreeway.org or contact the Katy Freeway Public Information Office at 281-589-5924.
* Previously advertised to open at 8PM, however it may take longer, the ramps will be opened ASAP.
** The new ramp is I-610 southbound to I-10 westbound (not I-610 northbound as previously advertised).
