TXDOT TO OPEN NEW RAMPS AND SHIFT TRAFFIC ONTO NEW I-610/WEST LOOP SOUTHBOUND MAINLANES
"I-610/West Loop Southbound at I-10 Closed November 12-13"
(Houston, Texas) – As work swiftly progresses on the I-10/I-610 Interchange reconstruction, TxDOT is preparing for the opening of new ramps and the shift of traffic onto new I-610 southbound mainlanes. Thursday night, November 11 starting at 9 PM until 5 AM, Friday, Williams Brothers Construction (WB) will close the existing I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound and westbound direct connector ramps to I-610/West Loop southbound and will open the newly constructed direct connector ramps for each direction. By Friday morning at 5 AM, drivers will be making the connections from I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound and westbound to I-610/West Loop southbound via the new ramps. These very ramps will be used as the primary detours when WB closes I-610/West Loop southbound at I-10/Katy Freeway over the weekend beginning at 9 PM, Friday, November 12 until 6 PM, Saturday, November 13 to switch the I-610/West Loop southbound traffic onto the new mainlanes. While this portion of the freeway is closed, traffic destined to I-610 southbound will have the option of using one of two designated detours.
• Option 1 – Detour to I-10 eastbound to exit Washington Avenue to make a u-turn to access the I-10 westbound to I-610 southbound direct connector.
• Option 2 - Detour to I-10 westbound to exit Wirt and make a u-turn to access the I-10 eastbound to I-610 southbound direct connector.
In addition to shifting traffic onto the new I-610/West Loop southbound mainlanes this weekend, WB will also open the new I-610/West Loop southbound exit ramp to Post Oak Blvd.
