New North Post Bridge is Open

Wednesday, Dec 15th, 2004

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE...

THE NEW NORTH POST OAK BRIDGE NOW OPEN!

"Traffic on North Post Oak Restored to Two Lanes in Each Direction"

(Houston, Texas) – Yesterday evening, December 14, Williams Brothers Construction (WB) officially opened the new North Post Oak Bridge and reconfigured traffic on North Post Oak back to four lanes (two northbound/two southbound). The construction of the new bridge and the restoration of four lanes of traffic on North Post Oak mark the completion of a yet another major milestone on the I-10/I-610 Interchange reconstruction project. The contract provided 238 days (approximately nine months) to complete this milestone with an incentive bonus of $1.35 million to complete the work 45 days early (193 working days). By increasing their labor forces in the area and working virtually around the clock, WB was able to complete the milestone 53 days early, earning the full bonus of $1.35 million.

To-date, WB has successfully met or beat the schedule for each of the initiated milestones on the project. Traffic was first placed on the new North Post Oak Bridge on December 5 with the shift of traffic onto the new eastbound frontage road at North Post Oak. At that time, only three lanes of traffic were opened and the completion of the milestone would not be realized until traffic was restored to the four-lane configuration. WB completed the remaining work and fully opened the bridge at approximately 7:00 PM yesterday.
