News Release: from the Katy Freeway Public Information Office
I-10 Eastbound Traffic Changes at SH 6
Tuesday, Jan 25th, 2005
Last night, January 24 construction crews switched eastbound traffic between Barker Cyress and SH 6 onto the new I-10 eastbound mainlanes bridge over Park Ten. Additionally, the I-10 eastbound entrance and exit ramps near SH 6 were reversed. Presently, there is an entrance to I-10 eastbound just west of SH 6 and the exit ramp to SH 6 is just east of Barker Cypress.
Please note that due to the reversal of the ramps, motorists entering I-10 east of Barker Cypress will not have access to the HOV slip/entrance ramp at SH 6. From the I-10 eastbound mainlanes, motorist will have two options: 1) to enter I-10 eastbound west of Barker Cypress via the new Greenhouse entrance ramp or 2) access the HOV lane at the Gessner HOV slip/entrance ramp just east of Beltway 8.
Also please accept our apology for insufficient early notification regarding these changes. In the future you can expect better communication regarding traffic changes related to the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program.
