TTC awards 7th Katy Freeway Contract

THE TEXAS TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION AWARDS CONTRACT FOR I-10 RECONSTRUCTION BETWEEN CAMPBELL & SILBER
"Lowest Bid Less than 1% Over the Engineer's Estimate"
(Houston) --- On February 24, the Texas Transportation Commission (TTC) awarded Williams Brothers (WB) Construction of Houston the seventh of the nine major construction contracts associated with the reconstruction of the Katy Freeway. WB submitted the lowest bid in the amount of $159 million to perform work, which is less than $5,000 over the engineer's estimate. The contract, referred to as Contract E2, consists of the total reconstruction of 2.46 miles of I-10, from east of Campbell to east of Silber. Work is scheduled to begin on the project in March 2005 and is targeted for completion in December 2008.
