RECONSTRUCTION OF THE I-10/I-610 INTERCHANGE
DIRECT CONNECTORS KICKS INTO HIGH GEAR

"Drivers Should Expect Delays This Weekend in the
Vicinity of the I-10/I-610 Interchange Due to Multiple Lane Closures"
(Houston, Texas) –This upcoming weekend, drivers should expect delays in the vicinity of the I-10/I-610
Interchange due to multiple lane closures for freeway reconstruction. Starting 9 PM, Friday, February 24 the contractor will be switching traffic onto the new I-610/West Loop northbound direct connector ramps to I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound and westbound. This traffic switch will restore the separate dedicated direct connector lanes for making the connection from I-610 northbound to I-10 eastbound and westbound. Below is a list of this weekend’s scheduled lane closures in the area.

• The I-610/West Loop northbound direct connector ramps to I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound and westbound will be closed starting 9 PM, Friday, February 24 until 6 PM, Saturday, February 25. Detour to I-610 northbound, exit at 18th Street and U-turn to access I-610 southbound to access I-10 eastbound or westbound. To view a map of the detours go to: http://www.katyfreeway.org/I-610NB/Memorial_ShortTerm.html.

• Two lanes of I-610 northbound from Woodway to I-10 will be closed from 9 PM, Friday, February 24 until 6 PM, Saturday, February 25.

• The I-610/West Loop northbound exit ramp to Memorial will be closed effective 9 PM, Friday, February 24. This closure will be a long-term closure and will result in the San Felipe exit ramp being the last northbound exit from I-610/West Loop south of I-10/Katy Freeway until May 2006. Detailed maps are provided on the Katy Freeway website to illustrate the designated detour options motorists can use to access the I-610 northbound frontage road and cross streets between San Felipe and I-610. The map can
be viewed using the link: http://www.katyfreeway.org/I-610nb/memorial.html.

• The intersection of Memorial at I-610/West Loop will be closed from 9 PM, Friday, February 24 until 6 PM, Sunday, February 26. Eastbound Memorial traffic will be detoured to the southbound frontage road and directed to the U-turn at Woodway. Westbound Memorial traffic will be detoured to Woodway in Memorial Park to North Post Oak Blvd. to get back to Memorial.

• The I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound direct connector ramps to I-610/West Loop northbound and southbound will be closed from 9 PM, Saturday, February 25 to Noon, Sunday, February 26. Detour via I-10 eastbound to Washington Avenue and u-turn to I-10 westbound to access I-610 northbound and southbound.

The work this weekend coming up will mark the beginning of a very aggressive schedule of weekend closures in the vicinity of the I-10/I-610 interchange that will continue through the summer months. Motorists are encouraged to pay close attention to upcoming closure notices so they can stay informed about the various closures to better plan their commute relative to the reconstruction of the I-10/610 Interchange.

All closures are subject to change due to weather, emergency work, or other events. For more information on the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program, including up to date information regarding other lane closures along the I-10 corridor, please visit the Katy Freeway website at www.katyfreeway.org or contact the Katy Freeway Public Information Office at 281-589-5924.
