ALTERNATE ROUTES
"Multiple Closures in the Vicinity of the I-10/I-610 Interchange"
(Houston)- This weekend, March 3-6, drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays in the vicinity of the I-10/I-610 Interchange. William Brothers (WB) Construction will be switching traffic onto the new I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound mainlanes between SILBER and I-610/WEST LOOP. To perform the switch, the contractor will reduce I-10 eastbound traffic in the area from BINGLE ROAD to I-610 to one express lane from 9 PM Friday, March 3 until 9 PM, Saturday, March 4. Due to the complexity of the work to be performed and the broad work area required, detour options will be limited and drivers are strongly encouraged to use alternate travel routes to avoid delays where feasible. A single express lane will be provided for I-10 eastbound traffic from 9 PM Friday, March 3 until 9 PM, Saturday, March 4. Beginning 5 AM, Saturday, March 4 the I-10/Katy Freeway HOV lane will be open eastbound to all vehicles to serve as an additional express lane to help alleviate congestion due to the construction.
Effective 9 AM, Saturday, March 4, the I-10 eastbound direct connector ramps to I-610 northbound and southbound will be closed. I-10 eastbound travelers destined to I-610 northbound and southbound will have two options: 1) continue eastbound to exit at Washington and U-turn to access I-610 from I-10 westbound or 2) exit at Silber and follow the detour via the I-10 eastbound frontage road. The I-10 eastbound ramp to I-610 southbound will be closed from 9 AM, Saturday, March 4 until 5 AM, Monday, March 6. The I-10 eastbound ramp to I-610 northbound will be closed effective 9 AM, Saturday, March 4 through May 2006. The designated detour for motorists on I-10 eastbound destined to I-610 northbound will be to continue eastbound to exit at Washington Avenue and U-turn to access I-610 northbound from I-10 westbound.
