MULTIPLE CLOSURES ALONG
I-10/KATY FREEWAY THIS WEEKEND
"Motorists are encouraged to review the Katy Freeway closures notices to best plan travel along I-10."
(Houston) - There will be multiple Katy Freeway closures along the I-10 corridor this weekend March 17- 20, 2006. Starting at 9 PM, Friday, March 17 until 9 PM. Saturday, March 18 alternate lanes of I-10/ KATY FREEWAY westbound between Washington Avenue and I-610/WEST LOOP and the I-10 westbound direct connect ramps to I-610 northbound and southbound will be closed. Williams Brothers will be switching traffic onto the newly constructed I-10/Katy Freeway westbound to I-610/West Loop northbound and southbound direct connector ramps. The designated detour for motorists on I-10 westbound destined to I-610 northbound will be to exit at Washington, make a right and continue to Old Katy Road and make a right onto the I-610 northbound frontage road. Motorists on I-10 westbound destined to I-610 southbound should continue westbound to exit at Wirt, make a U-turn to access I-10 eastbound to I-610 southbound. Beginning at 9 PM, Saturday, March 18 until 5 AM, Monday, March 20 the I-610/WEST LOOP northbound direct connector ramp to I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound will be closed. Also starting at 12:01 AM, Sunday, March 19 until 5 AM, Monday, March 20 there will be a total closure of Old Katy Road eastbound and westbound between North Post Oak Blvd and I-610. Also this weekend, alternate lanes of I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound between KIRKWOOD and GESSNER, including the corresponding entrance and exit ramps and the I-10 eastbound direct connector ramps to Beltway 8 northbound and southbound will be closed beginning at 9 PM, Friday, March 17 until 5 AM, Monday, March 20. Williams Brothers will be switching the existing I-10 eastbound
traffic onto new pavement in the vicinity of the I-10/Beltway 8 interchange. Motorists on I-10 eastbound destined for Beltway 8 northbound and southbound should continue eastbound to exit at Bunker Hill, turn back via the signalized intersection and enter I-10 westbound to access Beltway 8 northbound and southbound via the direct connector ramps.
