Upcoming Katy Freeway Program Closures |

Below is a list of the upcoming closures associated with the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program as of March 17, 2006.
CONTRACT A (HARRIS-FORT BEND COUNTY LINE to SH 99) CLOSURES
• One inside lane of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound frontage road from SH 99 to PIN OAK will be closed daily (Excluding Sunday(s)) from 7 AM to 5 PM, Saturday, March 18 to Friday, March 24.
• Alternate lanes of US 90 eastbound and westbound at I-10/KATY FREEWAY will be closed on Saturday, March 18 from 7 AM to 3 PM.
• One inside lane of I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound from KATY FORT-BEND to MASON will be closed on Monday, March 20 from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
• One left lane of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound frontage road from US 90 to PIN OAK will be closed on Monday, March 20from 9 AM to 2 PM.
• One right lane of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound frontage road from MASON to SH 99 will be closed on Monday, March 20 from 7 AM to 4 PM.
CONTRACT B (SH 99 to SH 6) CLOSURES
• Two left lanes of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound frontage road at BARKER CYPRESS are closed until 5 AM, Monday, March 20.
• One outside lane of I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound between FRY ROAD and BARKER CYPRESS will be closed from 7 PM, Monday, March 20 to 5 AM, Tuesday, March 21.
• Two outside lanes of I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound between FRY ROAD and BARKER CYPRESS and the eastbound entrance ramps from FRY ROAD and BARKER CYPRESS will be closed from 9 PM, Monday, March 20 to 5 AM, Tuesday, March 21.
• Alternating lanes of BARKER CYPRESS northbound and southbound at I-10/KATY FREEWAY at the access roads will be closed on Monday, March 20 from 9 AM to 6 PM.
• The I-10 eastbound entrance ramp from Greenhouse and the I-10 eastbound exit ramp to Park Ten are scheduled to open effective 5 AM, Tuesday, March 21.
CONTRACT C2 (West of Dairy Ashford to KIRKWOOD) CLOSURES
• Alternate lanes of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound frontage road at SHERWOOD FOREST will be closed daily from 7 AM to 3 PM, Saturday, March 18 to Monday, March 20.
CONTRACT D (I-10/Beltway 8 Interchange) CLOSURES
• Alternate lanes of I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound between KIRKWOOD and GESSNER, including the corresponding entrance and exit ramps and the I-10 eastbound direct connector ramps to Beltway 8 northbound and southbound will be closed beginning at 9 PM, Friday, March 17 until 5 AM, Monday, March 20. Motorists on I-10 eastbound destined for Beltway 8 northbound and southbound should continue eastbound to exit at Bunker Hill, turn back via the signalized intersection and enter I-10 westbound to access Beltway 8 northbound and southbound via the direct connector ramps. CONTRACTS E1 & E2 (BETWEEN BELTWAY 8 AND I-610) CLOSURES
• The I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound exit ramp to SILBER will be closed on Saturday, March 18 from 5 AM to 9 PM. Detour to Bingle and u-turn eastbound to Silber.
• There will be a total closure of SILBER northbound and southbound at I-10/KATY FREEWAY Saturday, March 18 from 5 AM to 9 PM. Southbound traffic detour to the westbound frontage road to Antoine, go through the intersection to the eastbound frontage road, to Silber; northbound traffic detour to the eastbound frontage road to North Post Oak, to the westbound frontage road, to Silber.
CONTRACT F (I-10/I-610 INTERCHANGE) CLOSURES
• Starting at 9 PM, Friday, March 17 until 9 PM Saturday, March 18 alternate lanes of I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound between Washington Avenue and I-610/WEST LOOP and the I-10 westbound direct connect ramps to I-610 northbound and southbound will be closed. Detour to the Washington/Westcott exit to Old Katy Rd., to the I-610 northbound frontage road, to the main lanes; westbound traffic going to I-610 southbound should continue the same detour route, but u-turn at West 18th to the southbound main lanes.
• The I-610/WEST LOOP northbound direct connector ramp to I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound will be closed continuously from 9 PM, Saturday, March 18 to 5 AM, Monday, March 20. Detour northbound to West 18th St. and u-turn to I-610 southbound, to I-10 westbound.
• Starting at 12:01 AM, Sunday, March 19 until 5 AM, Monday, March 20 there will be a total closure of OLD KATY ROAD eastbound and westbound between NORTH POST OAK BLVD and I-610. • There will be nightly total closures of OLD KATY ROAD eastbound and westbound at I-610/WEST LOOP from 9 PM to 5 AM from Monday, March 20 to Wednesday, March 22. Westbound traffic detour to the I-610 northbound frontage road to the 18th Street u-turn to the southbound frontage road to Old Katy Road westbound; eastbound traffic detour to North Post Oak northbound, to Hempstead Road eastbound and follow Hempstead Road to Old Katy Road.
• Alternate lanes of OLD KATY ROAD eastbound and westbound from PORT WEST BLVD. to NORTH POST OAK will be closed on Monday, March 20 from 9 AM to 3 PM.
• The I-610/WEST LOOP northbound direct connector ramp to I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound will be closed nightly from 9 PM to 5 AM from Monday, March 20 to Tuesday, March 21. Detour northbound to exit West 18th St. and u-turn to the southbound lanes, to I-10 eastbound.
• Thursday, March 23 at 9 PM, the I-610/WEST LOOP northbound frontage road between Post Oak and Woodway will be switched to new pavement. This traffic switch will trigger the following changes: 1) the I-610 northbound entrance ramp from Post Oak will be closed until December 2006; 2) the I-610 northbound frontage road between Post Oak and Buffalo Bayou will be reduced to one lane; 3) Post Oak eastbound at the I-610 southbound frontage road will be re-striped to allow two right turn lanes southbound and 4) the I-610 southbound to northbound U-turn will be re-striped to allow the U-turn a dedicated northbound lane to access the I-610 northbound entrance ramp. CONTRACT C2 (West of Dairy Ashford to KIRKWOOD) CLOSURES
• There will be a total closure of KIRKWOOD northbound and southbound at I-10/KATY FREEWAY starting 9 PM, Friday, March 24 until 5 AM, Monday, March 27.
CONTRACT F (I-10/I-610 INTERCHANGE) CLOSURES
• There will be a TOTAL CLOSURE of I-10 eastbound and westbound and multiple direct connector ramps the weekend of Friday, March 24 -27, 2006. More details including specifics about closure times and detours will be forthcoming.
