Upcoming Katy Freeway Program Closures |

Below is a list of the upcoming closures associated with the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program as of March 24, 2006.
CONTRACT A (HARRIS-FORT BEND COUNTY LINE to SH 99) CLOSURES
• Two left lanes of I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound at KATY FORT BEND will be closed on Monday, March 27 from 9 AM to 3 PM.
• One right lane of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound frontage Road west of MASON will be closed on Monday, March 27 from 7 AM to 3 PM.
CONTRACT C1 (SH 6 to west of Dairy Ashford) CLOSURES
• The I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound exit ramp to PARK TEN will be closed effective 9 AM, Monday, March 27 until September 30. Detour to Barker Cypress or SH-6.
CONTRACT C2 (West of Dairy Ashford to KIRKWOOD) CLOSURES
• There will be a total closure of KIRKWOOD northbound and southbound at I-10/KATY FREEWAY starting 9 PM, Friday, March 24 until 5 AM, Monday, March 27.
• The eastbound and westbound U-TURNS at DAIRY ASHFORD RD will be closed continuously from 6 AM, Saturday, March 25 to 6 PM, Sunday, March 26. Detour to the intersection.
• There will be a TOTAL CLOSURE of SHERWOOD FOREST southbound at I-10/KATY FREEWAY from 8 PM, Friday, March 24 to 5 AM, Saturday, March 25. Detour to Timberline eastbound, to Upland southbound, to the westbound frontage road.
CONTRACT D (I-10/Beltway 8 Interchange) CLOSURES
• There will be a TOTAL CLOSURE of the BELTWAY 8 northbound frontage road at I-10/KATY FREEWAY from 9 PM, Saturday, March 25 to noon, Sunday, March 26. Detour to I-10 eastbound frontage road to Gessner, through the intersection to the westbound frontage road to Beltway 8 northbound.
• There will be a nightly TOTAL CLOSURE of the BELTWAY 8 southbound frontage road at I-10/KATY FREEWAY from 9 PM to 5 AM Sunday, March 26 and Monday, March 27. Detour to the westbound frontage road to Wilcrest and u-turn to the eastbound frontage road.
CONTRACTS E1 & E2 (BETWEEN BELTWAY 8 AND I-610) CLOSURES
• There will be alternate lane closures of northbound and southbound GESSNER at I-10/KATY FREEWAY through April 6.
• There will be a TOTAL CLOSURE of ANTOINE northbound and southbound at I-10/KATY FREEWAY Saturday, April 1 from 6 AM to 9 PM. Southbound traffic detour to the westbound frontage road to Wirt, go through the intersection to the eastbound frontage road, to Antoine; northbound traffic detour to the eastbound frontage road to Silber, to the westbound frontage road, to Antoine.
CONTRACT F (I-10/I-610 INTERCHANGE) CLOSURES*
• The I-610/WEST LOOP northbound direct connector ramp to I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound will be closed nightly from 9 PM to 5 AM, Saturday, March 25 and Monday, March 27. Detour northbound to exit West 18th St. and u-turn to the southbound lanes, to I-10 eastbound.
• One right lane of I-610/WEST LOOP northbound from POST OAK to WOODWAY will be closed on Saturday, March 25 from 9 AM until 9 PM.
• Reminder---Thursday, March 23 at 9 PM, the I-610/WEST LOOP northbound frontage road between Post Oak and Woodway was switched to new pavement. This traffic switch triggered the following changes: 1) the I-610 northbound entrance ramp from Post Oak is be closed until December 2006; 2) the I-610 northbound frontage road between Post Oak and Buffalo Bayou is reduced to one lane; 3) Post Oak eastbound at the I-610 southbound frontage road was re-striped to allow two right turn lanes southbound and 4) the I-610 southbound to northbound U-turn at San Felipe was re-striped to allow the U-turn a dedicated northbound lane to access the I-610 northbound entrance ramp. *The previously scheduled total closure of I-10 eastbound and westbound for this weekend has been postponed. More information will be released as available.
