I-10 EB and WB Total Closures This Weekend

UPCOMING TOTAL CLOSURE OF I-10 EASTBOUND AND WESTBOUND IN THE VICINITY OF THE I-10/I-610 INTERCHANGE RECONSTRUCTION
Motorists are Encouraged to Avoid the Area and Seek Alternate Travel Routes
(Houston) – This weekend, beginning 9 PM, Friday, April 7 until 5 AM, Monday, April 10, the Texas Department of Transportation's contractor for the I-10/I-610 Interchange reconstruction will totally close I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound and westbound from Silber to Washington Avenue and the entire length of the I-10 Katy HOV lane. Simultaneously, three direct connector ramps will be closed including: 1) I-610 southbound direct connector to I-10 eastbound; 2) I-610 northbound direct connector to I-10 westbound; and 3) the long-term closure of the I-10 eastbound direct connector to I-610 northbound. The closures are required for the demolition and removal of now out-of-service direct connector ramps and the placing of beams for new ramps under construction. • Traffic destined to I-10 westbound will be detoured to I-610 northbound to exit at 18th Street and u-turn to enter I-610 southbound to access I-10 westbound.
• Traffic destined to I-10 eastbound will be detoured to I-610 southbound to exit at San Felipe and u-turn to enter I-610 northbound to access I-10 eastbound.
• The detour for the closure of the I-610 southbound direct connector to I-10 eastbound will be to exit at Old Katy Road, make a left and continue on to Washington Avenue to access I-10 eastbound.
• The detour for the closure of the I-610 northbound direct connector to I-10 westbound will be to exit at 18th Street and u-turn to enter I-610 southbound to access I-10 westbound.
• As a reminder, there is a long term closure of the I-10 eastbound direct connector to I-610 northbound until late May 2006. This weekend detour to I-610 southbound exit at San Felipe and u-turn to access I-610 northbound.
