Total Closure of I-10WB and Connectors This Weekend |

UPCOMING TOTAL CLOSURE OF I-10 WESTBOUND IN THE VICINITY OF THE I-10/I-610 INTERCHANGE RECONSTRUCTION
"Motorists are Encouraged to Avoid the Area and Seek Alternate Travel Routes”
(Houston) –This weekend, June 9-12, 2006, the Texas Department of Transportation's contractor for the I-10/I-610 Interchange reconstruction will totally close I-10/Katy Freeway westbound from west of Washington Avenue to Silber and the I-10/Katy HOV lane, starting 9 PM, tonight, June 9 until 5 AM, Monday, June 12. Multiple direct connector ramps will also be closed at varying times over the weekend, including: 1) the I-10 westbound direct connector to I-610 southbound will be closed 9 PM, Friday, June 9 until 5 AM, Saturday, June 10; 2) the I-610 southbound direct connector to I-10 eastbound and the I-610 northbound direct connector to I-10 westbound will be closed nightly from 9 PM to 5AM, Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10; and 3) the I-10 eastbound direct connector to I-610 northbound will be closed from 9 PM, Saturday, June 10 until 5 AM, Sunday, June 11. Additionally, alternate lanes of Old Katy Road westbound will be closed from 9 PM, Saturday, June 10 until 5 AM, Sunday June 11. The closures are required for the placing of beams for new ramps under construction, roadway demolition and bridge deck work. The designated detours are provided below and maps of the detours can be viewed using the link http://www.katyfreeway.org/I-610NB/I-10_totalclosure_602.html.
· Traffic destined to I-10 westbound will be detoured to I-610 northbound to exit at 18th Street and u-turn to enter I-610 southbound to access I-10 westbound.
· The detour for the closure of the I-610 southbound direct connector to I-10 eastbound will be to exit at Old Katy Road, make a left and continue on to Washington Avenue to access I-10 eastbound.
· The detour for the closure of the I-610 northbound direct connector to I-10 westbound will be to exit at 18th Street and u-turn to enter I-610 southbound to access I-10 westbound.
· The detour for the closure of the I-10 westbound direct connector to I-610 southbound will be take I-610 northbound to exit at 18th Street and u-turn to enter I-610 southbound.
· The detour for the closure of the I-10 eastbound direct connector to I-610 northbound will be via I-610 southbound exit at San Felipe and u-turn to access I-610 northbound.
