West Loop Ramp Openings Delayed Due to Weather

Sunday, Sep 24th, 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELAEASE....

WEST LOOP RAMP OPENINGS DELAYED DUE TO WEATHER

Due to last evening’s heavy rains, TxDOT’s contractor was unable to complete the permanent striping of the I-610/West Loop in the vicinity of the I-10/I-610 Interchange. As a result, the new I-610/West Loop southbound exit ramp to Woodway and the northbound entrance ramp from Woodway will not open tomorrow morning. Still today, the pavement is too saturated to perform the striping activities, thus the contractor has rescheduled tonight’s road closures for Monday night, September 25 to complete the previously scheduled work. The list of scheduled closures is provided below.

• The 18th Street entrance ramp to I-610/West Loop southbound will be closed overnight Monday, September 25 from 9 PM to 5 AM. Take the I-610 southbound frontage road to Hempstead Road southbound to I-10/Katy Freeway westbound to access I-610 southbound.

• The I-610/West Loop southbound direct connector ramps to I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound and westbound will be closed overnight Monday, September 25 from 9 PM to 5 AM. Detour via I-610 southbound, exit at San Felipe and make a U-turn to enter I-610 northbound to access I-10 eastbound and westbound.

• One outside lane of US 290 eastbound at I-610 West Loop southbound will be closed overnight Monday, September 25 from 9 PM to 5 AM.

• One inside lane of I-610/North Loop westbound to I-610/West Loop southbound will be closed overnight Monday, September 25 from 9 PM to 5 AM.

• The I-610/West Loop southbound exit ramp to Old Katy Road will be closed overnight Monday, September 25 from 9 PM to 5 AM. Detour via I-610 southbound, exit at Post Oak and make a U-turn to enter I-610 northbound to access I-10 eastbound to exit and make a left at Washington to access Old Katy Road.

Please note that all closures are subject to change due to inclement weather.
