Recent Traffic Changes and Upcoming Closures |

Below is a list of recent traffic changes and upcoming closures associated with the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program as of today, December 12, 2006.
CONTRACT C1 (SH 6 to east of ELDRIDGE) CLOSURES
Lane capacity at the intersection of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound frontage road at SH-6 has been reduced as a part of the contractors next phase of work to complete reconstruction of the intersection I-10 at SH 6. The right-turn only and left-turn only lanes of the I-10 eastbound frontage road will be closed continuously through March 2007. I-10 eastbound frontage road traffic destined to continue eastbound on the frontage road is encouraged to use the I-10 mainlanes and exit at Eldridge when possible.
The existing Addicks Park & Ride driveway access to PARK ROW will be closed effective Saturday, December 16. HOV lane users should follow the designated detour.
CONTRACT C2 (DAIRY ASHFORD to east of KIRKWOOD) CLOSURES
Two left lanes of the KIRKWOOD northbound at I-10/KATY FREEWAY will be closed nightly from 9 PM to 6 AM through Friday, December 15.
One left lane of the KIRKWOOD southbound at I-10/KATY FREEWAY will be closed nightly from 8 PM to 6 AM through Friday, December 15.
One left lane of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound frontage road near KIRKWOOD will be closed nightly from 8 PM to 6 AM through Friday, December 15.
The right lane of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound frontage road from KIRKWOOD to DAIRY ASHFORD RD will be closed daily from 9 AM to 3 PM through Friday, December 22.
CONTRACT D (I-10/BELTWAY 8 INTERCHANGE) CLOSURES
The new I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound entrance ramp west of BELTWAY 8 (just before Wilcrest) is now open to traffic.
The I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound entrance ramp from WILCREST has been permanently closed. Traffic on the westbound frontage road from the I-10/Beltway 8 intersection and from Brittmoore should use the new I-10 westbound entrance ramp before Wilcrest. Traffic from Wilcrest destined to enter I-10 westbound detour to the entrance ramp from Kirkwood.
Alternate lanes of I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound frontage road from GESSNER DR to BELTWAY 8 will be closed daily from 9 AM to 3 PM through Friday, December 15.
CONTRACTS E1 & E2 (BETWEEN BELTWAY 8 and I-610) CLOSURES
There will be a total closure of WIRT/CHIMNEY ROCK northbound and southbound at I-10/KATY FREEWAY on Saturday, December 16 from 6 AM to 6 PM. Northbound traffic detour to the eastbound frontage road to Antoine northbound and go through the intersection to access the westbound frontage road; southbound traffic detour to the westbound frontage road to Bingle southbound and go through the intersection to access the eastbound frontage road.
One left lane of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound frontage road at WIRT will be closed on Saturday, December 16 from 6 AM to 6 PM.
One inside lane of I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound from BINGLE/VOSS to N. POST OAK will be closed overnight from 8 PM, Thursday, December 14 to 5 AM, Friday, December 15.
CONTRACT F (I-10/I-610 INTERCHANGE) CLOSURES
I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound traffic between ANTOINE and WASHINGTON will be reduced to one lane from 9 PM Friday, December 15 until 6 PM, Saturday, December 16. The I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound direct connector ramps to I-610/WEST LOOP northbound and southbound will remain open.
The I-610/WEST LOOP northbound and southbound direct connectors to I-10 eastbound will be closed starting 9 PM Friday, December 15 until 6 PM, Saturday, December 16. Detour to I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound, exit Silber and U-turn to the I-10 eastbound frontage road, turn left on North Post Oak, and turn right onto Old Katy Road to access I-10 eastbound from Washington Avenue.
