I-10EB Reduced to One Lane

I-10/KATY FREEWAY EASTBOUND REDUCED TO ONLY ONE THROUGH-LANE BETWEEN ANTOINE AND WASHINGTON
"Motorists are Strongly Encouraged to Avoid the Area and Seek Alternate Travel Routes”
(Houston) – Motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate travel routes to access I 10/Katy Freeway eastbound to in the vicinity I-10/I-610 Interchange this weekend. Beginning 9 PM, Friday, December 15 until 6 PM, Saturday, December 16, I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound through traffic will be reduced to only one lane between Antoine and Washington Avenue while contractors switch traffic onto new pavement. The I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound direct connector ramps to I-610/West Loop northbound and southbound will remain open. Simultaneously, the I-610/West Loop northbound and southbound direct connectors to I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound will be closed, also from 9 PM Friday, December 15 until 6 PM, Saturday, December 16. Drivers in the area will be detoured to I-10/Katy Freeway westbound, exit Silber and U-turn the I-10 eastbound frontage road, turn left on North Post Oak, and turn right onto Old Katy Road to access I-10 eastbound from Washington Avenue.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and utilize alternative highway routes to gain access to downtown and I-10 eastbound destinations east of the I-610/West Loop. Some suggested routes for consideration include: 1) Galleria/Uptown motorists destined to downtown are encouraged to take I-610/West Loop to US 59/Southwest Freeway northbound, 2) likewise motorists on US 59/Southwest Freeway should continue inbound on the facility to access downtown and 3) motorists on US 290 are encouraged to use I 610/North Loop eastbound to I-45 southbound to access I-10 eastbound in the vicinity of downtown Houston.
