Upcoming Katy Freeway Program Closures |

Below is a list of the upcoming closures associated with the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program as of Friday, January 12, 2007.
CONTRACT C1 (SH 6 to east of ELDRIDGE) CLOSURES
. Alternate lanes of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound frontage road between SH 6 and ELDRIDGE PARKWAY will be closed daily from 9 AM to 3 PM (excluding Sundays) through Saturday, February 3.
. One outside lane of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound between SH 6 and ELDRIDGE PARKWAY will be closed beginning 9 PM, Friday, January 12 until 5 AM, Saturday, January 13.
CONTRACT C2 (DAIRY ASHFORD to east of KIRKWOOD) CLOSURES
. The left lane of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound frontage road at KIRKWOOD will be closed from 8 PM Friday, January 12 through 5 AM, Saturday, January 13.
. One left lane of KIRKWOOD southbound and two left lanes of KIRKWOOD northbound at
I-10/KATY FREEWAY will be closed from 8 PM Friday, January 12 until 5 AM Saturday, January 13.
. The right lane of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound frontage road from KIRKWOOD to DAIRY ASHFORD RD will be closed daily from 9 AM to 3 PM beginning Monday, January 8 through Wednesday, January 31.
. The right lane of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound frontage road from DAIRY ASHFORD RD to KIRKWOOD will be closed daily from 9 AM to 3 PM beginning Monday, January 8 through Wednesday, January 31.
CONTRACT D (I-10/BELTWAY 8 INTERCHANGE) CLOSURES
. The southbound frontage road of Beltway 8 will be closed at I-10/KATY FREEWAY beginning 9 PM Friday, January 12 until 5 AM Saturday, January 13. Southbound traffic should detour to the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound frontage road to WILCREST and u-turn to the eastbound frontage road, to Beltway 8.
. Alternate lanes of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound frontage road between LUMPKIN and BRITTMOORE will be closed beginning 9 PM Monday, January 15 until 5 AM Tuesday, January 16 while contractors facilitate the switch of the existing I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound frontage road traffic onto new pavement.
CONTRACTS E1 & E2 (BETWEEN BELTWAY 8 and I-610) CLOSURES
. There will be a total closure of GESSNER northbound and southbound at I-10/KATY FREEWAY beginning 9 PM Friday, January 12 through 9 PM Saturday, January 13. Northbound traffic should detour to the eastbound frontage road to BUNKER HILL northbound and go through the intersection to access the westbound frontage road; southbound traffic should detour to the westbound frontage road to enter the mainlanes of I-10 and exit at WILCREST, U-turn to the eastbound frontage road to access Gessner.
CONTRACT F (I-10/I-610 INTERCHANGE) CLOSURES
. There will be a TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound direct connector ramp to I-610/WEST LOOP north- and southbound beginning 9 PM Friday, January 12 through 9 PM Saturday, January 13. Detour to the WASHINGTON/WESTCOTT exit and go through the signalized intersection to OLD KATY ROAD.
. Alternate lanes of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY eastbound mainlanes from SILBER RD to WASHINGTON AVE/WESTCOTT ST will be closed overnight from 9 PM, Friday, January 12 to 1 AM, Saturday, January 13.

A Glimpse At Next Weekend's Work...
CONTRACT F (I-10/I-610 INTERCHANGE) CLOSURES
. Over the weekend of January 19-20, 2007, Williams Brothers Construction will switch I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound traffic onto the new westbound pavement between I-610/WEST LOOP and CAMPBELL ROAD. This major milestone completing traffic switch will require a TOTAL CLOSURE of I-10/KATY FREEWAY within these limits. This traffic switch will re-open multiple westbound entrance and exit ramps within this section of the freeway. Additionally, a new KATY ROAD/NORTH POST OAK exit ramp will be opened east of the West Loop. The opening of this ramp will permanently close the existing SILBER exit ramp just west of West Loop. Motorists destined to Silber will be detoured via the Katy Road/North Post Oak exit or directed to use the Antoine exit and turn-back to access Silber via the eastbound frontage road. More details regarding the final lane configurations, related lane closures and designated detours will be released next week.
