Advance Notice--Upcoming Total Closure of I-10 Westbound

UPCOMING TOTAL CLOSURE OF I-10 WESTBOUND BETWEEN WASHINGTON AVENUE AND CAMPBELL ROAD
"Contractor Completes Major Milestones Opening the New I-10 Westbound Lanes and Restoring Multiple Entrances and Exit Ramps”
(Houston) This weekend, January 19-20, 2007, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) contractor, Williams Brothers Construction will switch I-10/Katy Freeway westbound traffic onto the new pavement between Washington Avenue and Campbell Road. Total closure of I-10/Katy Freeway westbound in the area and the I-610/West Loop northbound and southbound direct connector ramps to I-10/Katy Freeway westbound will be required to perform this traffic switch. This major milestone completing traffic switch will also restore multiple westbound entrance and exit ramps within this section of the freeway that have been closed since July 2006. Additionally, a new Katy Road/North Post Oak exit ramp will be opened east of the West Loop. The opening of this ramp will activate the permanent closure the existing I-10 westbound exit ramp to Silber and help to alleviate congestion at the merge of the I 10 westbound mainlanes and the oncoming West Loop direct connector traffic.

When: 9 PM, Friday, January 18 through 9 PM Saturday, January 20, 2007
Why: Completion of Major Contract Milestones to Open the New I-10 Westbound Mainlanes and Multiple Entrance and Exit Ramps
Where: I-10/Katy Freeway Westbound between Washington Avenue and Campbell Road
How: The contractor will totally close I-10/Katy Freeway westbound between Washington Avenue and Campbell Road and the I-610/West Loop northbound and southbound direct connector ramps to I-10/Katy Freeway westbound to perform the traffic switch. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes during this closure.
More details regarding the upcoming lane closures, designated detours and the final lane configurations will be released in within the week. Please note that all closures are subject to change due to inclement weather.
