TX Transportation Commission Awards Final Katy Contract

TEXAS TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION AWARDS THE LAST MAJOR IH 10/KATY FREEWAY RECONSTRUCTION PROGRAM CONTRACT
(Houston) – On Thursday, January 25, the Texas Transportation Commission (TTC) awarded Balfour Beatty Construction, Inc. the last of the nine major construction contracts associated with the reconstruction of the Katy Freeway. The contract, referred to as Contract G, consists of the total reconstruction of 1.65 miles of IH 10, from east of IH 610/West Loop to west of Washington Avenue and includes the reconstruction of the Union Pacific railroad bridge that crosses over IH 10.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) accepted bids for the work on January 9th. Balfour Beatty Construction submitted the lowest bid in the amount of $43 million to perform work.
Two of the nine major construction contracts have been completed and recently, major milestones on the IH 10/IH 610 Interchange contract marked the completion of the West Loop construction and the new IH 10 westbound mainlanes. The Program as a whole is on track to meet the target date for substantial completion by December 2008.
