BELTWAY 8-WEST SOUTHBOUND DIRECT CONNECTOR RAMP TO I-10/KATY FREEWAY WESTBOUND OPENS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE
(Houston) – Over the weekend, the Texas Department of Transportation’s contractor opened the new Beltway 8-West southbound direct connector ramp to I-10/Katy Freeway westbound. The opening of the direct connector marks the successful and early completion of the contractor's milestone to complete the first of the eight I-10/Beltway 8 Interchange direct connectors being reconstructed as a part of the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program. The duration of the closure was planned for 97 days with an incentive bonus for opening early. The early opening date to get the maximum incentive was June 21 and Williams Brothers completed the necessary work in the area to open the ramp Saturday morning, June 16 which qualified the contractor to receive the full $300K incentive bonus.
