MULTIPLE CLOSURES ALONG I-10/KATY FREEWAY THIS WEEKEND
"Motorists are encouraged to review the Katy Freeway closures notices to best plan travel along I-10."
(Houston) - There will be multiple I-10/Katy Freeway closures along the I-10 corridor this weekend July 27-30, 2007. The I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound and westbound mainlanes between I-610/WEST LOOP and WASHINGTON AVE will be closed overnight in two phases as contractors place bridge beams for the temporary Union Pacific Railroad bridge. The closures and designated detours are provided below and maps of the detours can be viewed using the link http://www.katyfreeway.org/I10_Closure/I-10_Closure0727.html.
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound mainlanes between I-610/WEST LOOP and WASHINGTON AVE beginning 9 PM, Friday, July 27 until 8 AM, Saturday, July 28. Eastbound traffic will exit Silber/North Post Oak Road, turn left on North Post Oak, and right on Old Katy Road to re-enter I-10 eastbound via the entrance ramp from Washington.
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-610/West Loop northbound and southbound direct connectors to eastbound I-10 beginning 9 PM, Friday, July 27 until 8 AM, Saturday, July 28. Northbound traffic will detour I-10 westbound and exit Silber/Antoine, u-turn at Antoine to the I-10 eastbound frontage road, turn left on N. Post Oak and right on Old Katy Road to enter I-10 eastbound via the entrance ramp from Washington. Southbound traffic will take the Old Katy Road exit, turn left on Old Katy Road, and enter I-10 eastbound via the entrance ramp from Washington.
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound entrance ramps from Chimney Rock and Silber beginning 9 PM, Friday, July 27 until 8 AM, Saturday, July 28. Traffic will continue on the I-10 eastbound frontage road, turn left on North Post Oak, and right on Old Katy Road to re-enter I-10 eastbound via the entrance ramp from Washington.
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10/Katy Freeway westbound mainlanes between WASHINGTON AVE and I-610/WEST LOOP beginning 9 PM, Saturday, July 28 until 8 AM, Sunday, July 29. Westbound traffic will exit at Washington, turn right on Old Katy Road to the I-10 westbound frontage road, and re-enter the I-10 westbound mainlanes via the entrance ramp from Antoine.
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10 westbound direct connectors to I-610 northbound and southbound beginning 9 PM, Saturday, July 28 until 8 AM, Sunday, July 29. Northbound traffic will take the Washington exit, turn right on Old Katy Road to the I-610 northbound frontage road, and enter the I-610 mainlanes via the entrance ramp from Old Katy Road. Southbound traffic will exit Washington, turn right on Old Katy Road, left on N. Post Oak to the I-610 southbound frontage road and enter the I-610 southbound mainlanes from Woodway.
Additionally, the I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound mainlanes between WILCREST and GESSNER will be closed continuously beginning 5 AM, Saturday, July 28 until 5 AM, Monday, July 30 as the contractor continues construction activities at the I-10/Beltway 8 Interchange. Traffic will detour at the Beltway 8 frontage road exit to the I-10 eastbound frontage road and re-enter the I-10 eastbound mainlanes just west of Gessner. Additional closures associated with the work at this intersection are as follows:
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound direct connector ramp to southbound BELTWAY 8-WEST from 5 AM, Saturday, July 28 until 5 AM, Monday, July 30. Southbound traffic should take the Beltway 8 frontage road exit to the I-10 westbound frontage road.
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the Beltway 8-West northbound frontage road between Queensbury and I-10/Katy Freeway and the Beltway 8-West northbound frontage road flyover bridge from 5 AM, Saturday, July 28 until 5 AM, Monday, July 30. Traffic will detour turn right on Queensbury to Town and Country, left on Attingham to the I-10 eastbound frontage road.
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the Beltway 8-West southbound frontage road at I-10/Katy Freeway from 5 AM, Saturday, July 28 until 5 AM, Monday, July 30. Southbound traffic will detour to the Beltway 8-West southbound frontage road flyover bridge.
