UPCOMING TOTAL CLOSURES ALONG THE I-10 CORRIDOR
"Motorists Are Reminded To Plan Ahead For Travel In The Area”
(Houston) – This weekend, July 27-30, 2007, Texas Department of Transportation contractors will totally close different areas of the I-10/Katy Freeway to facilitate construction activities taking place east of I-610/West Loop and at the I-10/Beltway 8 Interchange. The related freeway and ramp closures are detailed below including the scheduled dates, times and designated detours for each. Please note one additional mainlane closure has been added to this weekend’s schedule.
SCHEDULED CLOSURES AND DETOURS
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound mainlanes between I-610/WEST LOOP and WASHINGTON AVE beginning 9 PM, Friday, July 27 until 8 AM, Saturday, July 28. Eastbound traffic will exit Silber/North Post Oak Road, turn left on North Post Oak, and right on Old Katy Road to re-enter I-10 eastbound via the entrance ramp from Washington.*
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-610/West Loop northbound and southbound direct connectors to eastbound I-10 beginning 9 PM, Friday, July 27 until 8 AM, Saturday, July 28. Northbound traffic will detour I-10 westbound and exit Silber/Antoine, U-turn at Antoine to the I-10 eastbound frontage road, turn left on North Post Oak and right on Old Katy Road to enter I-10 eastbound via the entrance ramp from Washington. Southbound traffic will take the Old Katy Road exit, turn left on Old Katy Road, and enter I-10 eastbound via the entrance ramp from Washington.
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10/Katy Freeway westbound mainlanes between WASHINGTON AVE and I-610/WEST LOOP beginning 9 PM, Saturday, July 28 until 8 AM, Sunday, July 29. Westbound traffic will exit at Washington, turn right on Old Katy Road to the I-10 westbound frontage road, and re-enter the I-10 westbound mainlanes via the entrance ramp from Antoine.**
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10 westbound direct connectors to I-610 northbound and southbound beginning 9 PM, Saturday, July 28 until 8 AM, Sunday, July 29. Northbound traffic will take the Washington exit, turn right on Old Katy Road to the I-610 northbound frontage road, and enter the I-610 mainlanes via the entrance ramp from Old Katy Road. Southbound traffic will exit Washington, turn right on Old Katy Road, left on North Post Oak to the I-610 southbound frontage road and enter the I-610 southbound mainlanes from Woodway.
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10 eastbound mainlanes between WILCREST and GESSNER beginning 5 AM, Saturday, July 28 until 5 AM, Monday, July 30. Traffic will detour at the Beltway 8 frontage road exit to the I-10 eastbound frontage road and re-enter the I-10 eastbound mainlanes just west of Gessner.
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10/KATY FREEWAY westbound direct connector ramp to southbound BELTWAY 8-WEST from 5 AM, Saturday, July 28 until 5 AM, Monday, July 30. Southbound traffic should take the Beltway 8 frontage road exit to the I-10 westbound frontage road.
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the Beltway 8-West northbound frontage road between QUEENSBURY and I-10/KATY FREEWAY and the BELTWAY 8 WEST northbound frontage road flyover bridge from 5 AM, Saturday, July 28 until 5 AM, Monday, July 30. Traffic will detour turn right on Queensbury to Town and Country, left on Attingham to the I-10 eastbound frontage road.
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the Beltway 8-West southbound frontage road at I-10/KATY FREEWAY from 5 AM, Saturday, July 28 until 5 AM, Monday, July 30. Southbound traffic will detour to the Beltway 8-West southbound frontage road flyover bridge.
• One inside lane of the I-10 eastbound mainlanes will be closed between BELTWAY 8 and I-610/WEST LOOP daily from 6 AM to 8 PM, Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28. Please note that the I-10 eastbound mainlanes within these limits will be reduced to 2 lanes.
Each of the closures and the designated detours discussed above will be indicated with advance notice signage and police officers will be on-duty to assist in the direction of traffic at the various freeway closures and intersections.
