I-10 WESTBOUND MAINLANES CLOSED BETWEEN GESSNER AND WILCREST
“Weekend Construction Activities Continue at I-10/Beltway 8 Interchange”
(Houston) The I-10/Katy Freeway westbound mainlanes between Gessner and Wilcrest will be closed beginning
5 AM, Saturday, August 25 until 5 AM, Monday, August 27 as TxDOT contractor, Williams Brothers, continues construction activities associated with the beam placement of the new Beltway 8 southbound direct connector to I-10 eastbound. Westbound traffic will detour via the Beltway 8 frontage road exit to the I-10 westbound frontage road and re-enter the I-10 westbound mainlanes just east of Wilcrest.
Additional closures this weekend include:
. TOTAL CLOSURE of the I-10/Katy Freeway westbound direct connector ramps to northbound and southbound Beltway 8 West beginning 5 AM, Saturday, August 25 until 5 AM, Monday, August 27. Northbound traffic will exit at the Beltway 8 frontage road exit to the I-10 westbound frontage road to the Beltway 8 northbound frontage road. Southbound traffic will exit at the Beltway 8 frontage road exit to the I-10 westbound frontage road, U-turn at Wilcrest to the I-10 eastbound frontage road to the Beltway 8 southbound frontage road.
. TOTAL CLOSURE of the Beltway 8 West southbound frontage road between Westview and I-10/Katy Freeway and the Beltway 8 West southbound frontage road flyover bridge beginning 5 AM, Saturday, August 25 until 5 AM, Monday, August 27. Traffic will detour west on Westview to Brittmoore, south on Brittmoore to the I-10 westbound frontage road.
. TOTAL CLOSURE of the Beltway 8 West northbound frontage road at I-10/Katy Freeway beginning 5 AM, Saturday, August 25 until 5 AM, Monday, August 27. Traffic will detour east on the I-10 eastbound frontage road.
TxDOT in cooperation with the Harris County Toll Road Authority, Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office and the City of Houston Police Department will station law enforcement at key locations to facilitate the movement of traffic and maintain access in the area.
Please note that all closures are subject to change due to weather, emergency work, or other events.
