CLOSURE OF BELTWAY 8 NB TO I-10/KATY WB

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE...
IMMEDIATE CLOSURE OF BELTWAY 8 NORTHBOUND RAMP TO I-10/KATY FREEWAY WESTBOUND
Effective immediately the Beltway 8 northbound direct connector ramp to I-10/Katy Freeway westbound has been closed until further notice. Texas Department of Transportation’s construction inspectors identified a potential safety concern on the ramp resulting from on-going construction activities. As a proactive measure to ensure the safety of the driving public the ramp was closed at approximately 11:30 AM pending further structural analysis. Motorists will be detoured to continue northbound to take the Westview exit ramp and make a u-turn to enter Beltway 8 southbound to access I-10/Katy Freeway westbound.
At this time, TxDOT engineers are inspecting the ramp’s structure and reviewing it’s load bearing capacity. Upon completion of the bridge analysis more details regarding the duration of the closure will be provided.
