Multiple Closures Along I-10/Katy Eastbound--Expect Delays |

UPCOMING TOTAL CLOSURE OF I-10/KATY FREEWAY EASTBOUND AT I-610/WEST LOOP
"Contractor Completes Major Milestone Switching Traffic To New Pavement and Opening New Entrance and Exit Ramps”
(Houston) This weekend, September 14-16, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) contractor, Williams Brothers Construction will switch I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound traffic onto new eastbound pavement between Campbell Road and I-610/West Loop. This traffic switch, which marks completion of a major milestone, will require the following closures:
• Total Closure of I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound mainlanes at I-610/West Loop starting 9 PM, Friday, September 14 until 5 AM, Saturday, September 15. Traffic will be detoured to take the I-10 eastbound direct connector ramp to I-610 southbound; exit Woodway and U-turn to the I-610 northbound frontage road, and enter the I-610 northbound mainlanes to I-10 eastbound.
• Alternate lanes of I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound between Beltway 8 and I-610/West Loop will be closed starting 9 PM, Friday, September 14 until 6 PM, Saturday, September 15.
• The I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound entrance and exit ramps between Bingle and I-610/West Loop will be closed starting 12:01 AM, Saturday, September 15. The Bingle entrance and Antoine exit ramps will re-open 5 AM, Monday, September 17. The I-10 eastbound exit ramps to Wirt/Chimney Rock and Silber, and the entrance ramp from Wirt/Chimney Rock will close until summer 2008.
• Total Closure of the I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound direct connector ramps to I-610/West Loop northbound and southbound Saturday, September 15 from 5 AM to 6 PM. Traffic will be detoured to I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound to exit at Washington Avenue; make a left on Washington to the I-10 westbound frontage road and re-enter the I-10 westbound mainlanes to the I-610 northbound and southbound direct connector ramps.
This work marks the early completion of another major milestone on the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program contract which includes the section of I-10 from Silber to Campbell Road (Contract E2). The new eastbound mainlanes traffic switch is happening more than 30 days ahead of schedule and qualifies the contractor to receive a maximum incentive $1.8 million.
Please note that construction activities will also continue this weekend at the I-10/Beltway 8 Interchange. The I-10 eastbound mainlanes between Wilcrest and Gessner, the I-10 eastbound direct connector ramp to northbound Beltway 8-West, and the HOV lanes will also be closed beginning 10 PM, Friday, September 14 until 5 AM, Monday, September 17.
