Beltway 8 NB to I-10 WB Closes October 5 |

BELTWAY 8-WEST NORTHBOUND DIRECT CONNECTOR TO I-10/KATY FREEWAY WESTBOUND CLOSES OCTOBER 5
”Motorists Should Expect On-Going Nightly Total Closures in the Vicinity of
I-10/Beltway 8 Interchange”
(Houston) – This Friday, October 5, 2007, the Beltway 8 northbound direct connector to I-10/Katy Freeway westbound will close as part of the Katy Freeway Reconstruction Program’s I-10/Beltway 8 interchange reconstruction. This ramp will be closed through January 2008 while TxDOT contractor, Williams Brothers (WB) Construction, performs demolition activities on the existing ramp and rebuilds a new one. *Beltway 8 northbound traffic destine for I-10 westbound will be detoured to exit at Hammerly, U-turn to the Beltway 8 southbound frontage road to access I-10 westbound. In cooperation with the Harris County Toll Road Authority, tolls at the Beltway 8 northbound Hammerly exit ramp will be waived throughout the closure. As part of this long-term ramp closure, motorists should also expect multiple nightly mainlane and frontage road closures associated with these construction activities over the next several weeks. A forecast of upcoming nightly closures is provided below.
• TOTAL CLOSURE - I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound frontage road between Beltway 8 and Town & Country Lane beginning 9 PM, Friday, October 5 until 5 AM, Monday, October 8. Detour to the Beltway 8 southbound frontage road, U-turn at Kimberley to Queensbury, right on Queensbury to Town and Country Way, left on Attingham to the I-10 eastbound frontage road.
• TOTAL CLOSURE – Beltway 8 northbound mainlanes between Memorial and I-10/Katy Freeway nightly beginning Friday, October 5 thru Friday, October 12 from 10 PM to 5 AM. Traffic will detour at the Memorial exit to the Beltway 8 northbound frontage road.
• TOTAL CLOSURE - Beltway 8 southbound mainlanes between Westview and I-10/Katy Freeway Friday, October 5 and Saturday, October 6 from 10 PM to 5 AM. Traffic will detour at the Westview exit to the Beltway 8 southbound frontage road.
• TOTAL CLOSURE - I-10/Katy Freeway westbound direct connector to Beltway 8 southbound nightly beginning Friday, October 5 thru Sunday, October 7 from 10 PM to 5 AM. Traffic will detour at the Wilcrest exit, U-turn to the I-10 westbound frontage road to the Beltway 8 southbound frontage road.
• TOTAL CLOSURE – Beltway 8 southbound frontage road at I-10/Katy Freeway nightly beginning Saturday, October 6 thru Tuesday, October 9 from 9 PM to 5 AM. Traffic will detour to the I-10 westbound frontage road, U-turn at Wilcrest to the I-10 eastbound frontage road to Beltway 8 southbound.
• TOTAL CLOSURE of the Beltway 8 southbound frontage road flyover bridge nightly beginning Saturday, October 6 thru Tuesday, October 9 from 9 PM to 5 AM.
• TOTAL CLOSURE – Beltway 8 southbound direct connector to I-10/Katy Freeway westbound Monday, October 8 from 10 PM to 5 AM. Traffic will detour at the Westview exit, right on Westview to Brittmoore, left on Brittmoore to the I-10 westbound frontage road.
• TOTAL CLOSURE – Beltway 8 northbound frontage road between Queensbury and I-10/Katy Freeway nightly beginning Monday, October 8 thru Friday, October 12 from 9 PM to 5 AM. Traffic will detour right on Queensbury to Town and Country Way, left on Attingham to the I-10 eastbound frontage road.
• TOTAL CLOSURE – Beltway 8 northbound frontage road flyover bridge beginning Monday, October 8 until further notice.
• TOTAL CLOSURE - I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound frontage road between the I-10 eastbound entrance ramp from Wilcrest and Beltway 8 beginning Monday, October 8 thru Wednesday, October 10 from 9 PM to 5 AM. Detour to the I-10 eastbound mainlanes.
