HOUSTON (Jan. 4, 2007) – The Harris County Toll Road Authority reports that, effective today at 3 p.m., the northbound Briar Forest entrance to the Sam Houston Toll Road will be closed. The southbound exit ram at Briar Forest will also be closed. The ramps will reopen on Friday, Jan. 12.

The lanes are being closed to improve visibility, which has worsened in the rainy weather. The entrance and exit lanes will be re-striped and plastic dividers will be installed to allow drivers to see better as they enter and exit the toll road.

The changes will provide an interim improvement until a permanent solution can be implemented. Future lane closures are not expected at this time.

“We realize this is an inconvenience for drivers who regularly use these access roads, and we apologize for this temporary hardship,” said Randy Johnson, Incident Management Administrator for the Harris County Toll Road Authority. “But our overriding concern is to protect the safety of toll road travelers. After evaluating the situation, we believe this is in the public’s best interest, and we ask for your patience until this important work is completed.”
