GIS Day Promotes Geography Week
Internationally celebrated Geography Week offers noted keynote speakers Media Contact: 713.881.3278 Maria Vera, GIS Day Committee mvera@houstontranstar.org Houston, Texas (October 3, 2007) Don’t miss this year’s Houston Area’s GDC GIS Day 2007 on Nov. 15-16, 2007 hosted at the University of Houston - Central Campus, MD Anderson Library. Dr. Gordon Wells, keynote speaker on Nov. 15, presents “Geospatial Technologies for Disaster Response: GIS, GPS and Satellite Remote Sensing.” Dr. Wells serves as the Principal Investigator for the NASA-funded Mid-American Geospatial Information Center at The University of Texas-Austin Center for Space Research. Dr. John Lienhard will be keynote speaker on Nov. 16, 2007. Lienhard is the author and voice talent for more than 2,000 episodes of “The Engines of Our Ingenuity,” a syndicated daily National Public Radio series about machines and the people who created them. Dr. Lienhard is the MD Anderson Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering, and of History, at the University of Houston, where he has taught since 1980.
