Geography Touted at GIS Day 2009
NASA keynote speaker and Large GIS Exhibitor Showing Houston, Texas (Nov. 13, 2009) Don’t miss this year’s Houston Area’s GDC GIS Day 2009 on Nov. 19-20, hosted at the University of Houston - Central Campus, University Center, 2nd Floor, 4800 Calhoun, Houston, TX 77004, 9am-4pm. Entrance is free. Mary Gainer, keynote speaker on Nov. 19, presents “Preserving Rich History with GIS.” Mary Gainer has been working as a GIS Analyst and Project Manager for NASA Langley Research Center since May, 1998. Before coming to NASA, Gainer taught geography and geology at Valdosta State University in Georgia, and worked for the Environmental Office at Moody Air Force Base. Gainer's background is in biology and physical geography with an emphasis on GIS and wetlands. The opening address will be made by Dr. John Casey, Department Chairman, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Department at the University of Houston.
