BROWN CONVENTION CENTER “The 3E Truck Safety Conference is designed to address issues, trends and legislation impacting the industry” (Houston, Texas) ----- On Monday, November 19, 2001 starting at 8:30a.m., the Houston TranStar partnership will present the 3E Truck Safety Conference at the George R. Brown Convention Center located at 1001 Avenida De Las Americas in Houston, Texas. The 3E Truck Safety Conference is a one-day event designed to inform and educate trucking companies and independent operators about issues, trends and legislation impacting the industry. During the conference special emphasis will be placed on the 3E’s (Engineering, Enforcement and Education) of truck safety. Some of the topics discussed at the conference will include Incident Management, Dedicated Truck Lanes, Driver Training, Hazardous Cargo, Border Crossing, Grade Crossing, Commercial Vehicle Operations and Ramp Metering. Speakers for the conference include: Robert Eckels - Harris County Judge and Transportation Policy Council Chair Lee P. Brown - City of Houston Mayor Bill Webb - Texas Motor Transportation Association President Gary Trietsch - Texas Department of Transportation Houston District Engineer Arthur L. Storey - Harris County Public Infrastructure Executive Director -more- 2-2-2-2-2-2 Shirley A. Delibero - METRO President & CEO Tom Rolen - City of Houston Public Works & Engineering Director Darrell Bouchart - Texas Transportation Institute Sgt. C.J. Klausner - Houston Police Department Truck Enforcement Division Dale Everitt - Operation Respond Institute Assistant Chief Dannie Smith - Houston Fire Department Carroll G. Robinson - Houston City Council Member According to Jack Whaley, Director of Houston TranStar, “The Houston TranStar partnership is confident the 3E Truck Safety Conference will serve as a valuable forum for trucking companies and independent operators wanting to be informed about issues, trends and other changes in the industry. In less than a year the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) will be in full effect and the Houston TranStar partnership feels we need to be pro-active in addressing some of the issues associated with the substantial increase in the number of trucks traveling on Houston’s freeway system”. The 3E Truck Safety Conference will also feature a “live” 18-wheeler truck rollover demonstration conducted by Incident Management Services, Inc. in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center. The 3E Truck Safety Conference is being present by the Houston TranStar partnership in conjunction with the Texas Motor Transportation Association, Incident Management Services, Inc. and the George R.
