Accident Closes US 59 Southwest northbound at I-610 West Loop and I-610 connectors to US 59
Travelers are urged to choose another route

Houston TranStar officials are advising the public that all main lanes of US 59 Southwest Freeway northbound at I-610 West Loop, as well as the I-610 connectors to US 59, are closed because of an accident involving a big rig. The heavy truck has lost some fuel which must be cleaned from the roadway before lanes can be reopened.

A TxDOT maintenance crew has been dispatched to the scene to assess damage.

The situation is expected to continue through the rush period. Because delays are expected to grow as traffic builds, travelers are urged to consider taking an alternate route.

Houston TranStar is a consortium of four government agencies that coordinate and enhance transportation and emergency management services, responding to incidents and emergencies in Harris County and beyond. Sharing their resources to serve area residents are: the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Harris County, Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) and the City of Houston.
