September 10, 2014 Media Contact: Dinah Massie 713-881-3244 US 59 Eastex Closed at North Loop 610 Total Closure Expected to Last Four Hours Officials at Houston TranStar are advising travelers in the region to avoid the US 59 Eastex Freeway at the North Loop after a northbound 18-wheeler carrying a load of metal fell from an overpass onto the US 59 northbound lanes below. The incident has closed both directions of US 59. Damage to the concrete barrier separating the north- and southbound lanes will require repair; lanes are expected to reopen at about 4 PM today. -30- |
