US 290 EASTBOUND DIAMOND LANES TO OPEN
HOUSTON – Beginning 5:00 a.m., Monday morning, motorists will be able to access the newly constructed US 290 eastbound diamond lane from Skinner Road to the high occupancy vehicle lane (HOV) entrance at Eldridge Parkway.
This joint effort between the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) will bring relief to eastbound US 290 commuters by providing improved access for multi-passenger vehicles entering the barrier separated HOV lane. The diamond lane will operate 24 hours a day/7 days a week and will be open to motorists carrying two or more passengers and will facilitate the flow of traffic to the US 290 HOV lane during the peak travel period.
